Artist’s Statement:

The horse is a symbol of strength, freedom and untamed beauty, mirroring a woman’s innermost self. There can be moments between woman and horse where the world fades away and only the two of them exist in the world, revealing their connection and shared spirit. When both are vulnerable, they become empowered by the other.

About the Artist:

Janet has spent 20 years capturing still images of people, cultures, and events with a unique and distinctive style. Originally from Wisconsin, she has been an Atlanta resident for the past 28 years. Janet turns to photography as an expression of emotion and storytelling—capturing a moment of kindness, compassion, love, joy, and sadness. When she takes a photograph, she hopes this emotion translates in to what a viewer sees and feels. Her work has been published in digital and print publications ranging from Vogue, Style Me Pretty, The Knot, Ebony.com, Munaluchi Bridal, Buzzfeed, and The Huffington Post. She is the author of the upcoming book “The Photographer’s Business Guide” and offers mentoring and coaching to photographers and other creatives.
